Position Summary:

The Sustainability Intern will support Daifuku Intralogistics’ ongoing environmental and sustainability initiatives, helping measure, analyze, and improve the company’s environmental impact. This role is ideal for a student passionate about sustainability, data analysis, operational improvement, and corporate environmental responsibility.

 

Ideal Candidate:

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without requiring Sponsorship now or in the future. (This includes Visa Sponsorship for educational purposes).
  • Must be a Junior or Senior pursuing a  bachelor’s degree in Sustainability, Environmental Science, Engineering, Supply Chain, Business, or a related field.
  • Must be available to work on-site daily in Hobart, Indiana Monday-Friday 8:00am-5:00pm CST
  • Passion for sustainability in manufacturing, logistics, or supply‑chain environments.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including advanced functions, formulas, and data analysis tools.
  • Internship Duration May 4th - July 31st.

Pay Rate: $20.00/hour 

 

 

Responsibilities

Job duties include but are not limited to:

 

  • Assist with collecting, organizing, and analyzing sustainability‑related data, including electricity use, waste generation, water consumption, and carbon‑emissions metrics.
  • Support ongoing environmental improvement projects such as energy‑efficiency upgrades, recycling program enhancements, and waste‑reduction initiatives.
  • Help develop tools, dashboards, and reports summarizing sustainability KPIs for internal and external audiences.
  • Research industry best practices and emerging technologies related to corporate sustainability, renewable energy, circularity, and green supply chain strategies.
  • Participate in facility walkthroughs to identify opportunities for improved environmental performance.
  • Assist with sustainability communications, including employee engagement campaigns, training materials, and annual sustainability reporting.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to support compliance with environmental regulations and corporate sustainability commitments.
  • Present project findings and recommendations to leaders in Supply Chain Strategy and Corporate Sustainability.

Qualifications

Education and Experience Requirements:

 

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Sustainability, Environmental Science, Engineering, Supply Chain, Business, or a related field.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Requirements:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Proficiency in Excel, data visualization tools, or basic statistics.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Curiosity and initiative in learning sustainability concepts and applying them in real world operations.
  • Ability to work independently and in cross functional team settings.
