Overview

Contribute to the development of new products for material handling applications including conveyors, sortation, automated storage, order fulfilment, and robotic systems. Includes development of specifications, device layout drawings, control schematics, PLC logic. May work with support of more senior engineers. Works closely with the overall team to design systems meeting the product requirements. Uses creativity and innovation to design the standard product offering. 

Responsibilities

  1. Concept, design, develop and engineer products that add value and are a solution to customers and market needs
  2. Collaborate and review with others on the development team to develop products
  3. Ensure products developed fit with current and future manufacturing operations
  4. Ensure products developed meet competitive and market demands for performance and cost
  5. Specify and develop a sequence of operations of automated equipment
  6. Prepares schematics and specifications for control panel fabrication
  7. Develop Programmable Logical Control (PLC) programs
  8. Maintain product develop schedules and cost estimates
  9. Follow established engineering standards and best practices including software revision control
  10. Support prototype development and testing
  11. Support on site beta testing to ensure safety, reliability, and other performance metrics are met
  12. Investigate product issues in the field and determine root cause
  13. Domestic travel up to 40% in North America, mostly within the Continental United States

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering field, or equivalent experience -
    • Associate Degree in Engineering Discpline candidates encouraged to apply! 
  • Experience, such as an internship, with the material handling industry

  • Experience with various industrial HMI and SCADA systems
  • Experience with Allen-Bradley controls/controllers or Schneider PLCs a plus
  • Knowledge of industrial automation systems, including HMI and SCADA
  • Knowledge of controls/controllers and PLCs a plus
  • Proficient with AutoCAD or AutoCAD Electrical
  • Ability to multi-task while maintaining attention to detail and deadlines
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Team-oriented and collaborative
  • Creative-thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to learn new technologies
  • Self-motivated
  • Ability to work non-traditional hours
  • Must be able to speak, read and understand the English language
